Odisha to host 3rd National Mining Ministers’ Meet focusing on mineral development

Bhubaneswar, Jan 19: The two-day 3rd National Mining Ministers’ Conference is set to commence on Monday in Konark, Odisha. This marks the fourth major national event hosted in the state since the BJP government took office in July last year.

Previously, Bhubaneswar welcomed 3,000 delegates from 70 countries during the 18th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas held from January 8-10. The state also hosted an operational demonstration by the Indian Navy at Puri’s Blue Flag Beach on Navy Day, December 4, and the three-day DGP-IGP conference from November 29, which was attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, and National Security Advisor Ajit Doval.

Organized by the Ministry of Mines in collaboration with the Odisha government, the conference highlights the Ministry’s focus on creating a transparent, sustainable, and efficient mining ecosystem. It aligns with the vision of "Vikasit Bharat 2047," aiming to unlock India’s mineral potential to drive the nation’s development.

Minister of Commerce & Transport, Steel & Mines, Bibhuti Bhusan Jena, shared on social media: “Reviewed preparations for the 3rd National Mining Ministers’ Conference at the serene Konark Eco Retreat. Odisha is all set to welcome leaders and experts to discuss sustainable mining for a Vikasit Bharat. Looking forward to insightful discussions.”

Union Minister for Coal and Mines G. Kishan Reddy will chair the conference, with Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi inaugurating the event as the chief guest. More than 16 state Mining Ministers, including the Deputy Chief Ministers of Jammu & Kashmir and the Chief Minister of Jharkhand, along with senior officials from the central and Odisha governments, are expected to participate, according to an official release.
