Odisha reports 2,759 Dengue cases amidst heavy rainfall

Bhubaneswar, Aug 27: Odisha has reported 2,759 confirmed cases of dengue from a total of 70,000 tests conducted, according to Public Health Director Dr. Nilakantha Mishra.

The highest number of cases, 865, have been identified in Sundargarh district, with Khordha district following closely with 837 cases. Notably, Bhubaneswar, a major city within Khordha, has recorded over 500 dengue cases.

Dr. Mishra indicated that the substantial rainfall this year is likely contributing to the rise in dengue cases. He highlighted that preventive measures and awareness campaigns have been put in place to manage and control the outbreak.

These proactive steps are aimed at mitigating the impact of the disease and preparing for potential increases in case numbers. The health authorities are closely monitoring the situation and continuing efforts to enhance public health responses across the state.
