Odisha officially renames Mo School Abhiyan to ‘Panchasakha Sikhya Setu’

Bhubaneswar, Sept 14: The Odisha government has officially renamed its state-sponsored scheme ‘Mo School Abhiyan’ to ‘Panchasakha Sikhya Setu’ following its announcement in the annual budget. The School and Mass Education Department has issued a notification confirming the name change.
According to sources, the department has communicated with the SPD, OSEPA-cum-member secretary, instructing them to take the necessary steps to implement the new name. Detailed guidelines and modalities for the revamped Panchasakha Sikhya Setu scheme are expected to be released soon.
Officials indicated that the revised scheme will focus on enhancing student welfare, with active participation from alumni and other key stakeholders, aimed at transforming the school education system.
The renaming was first announced during the state budget presentation on July 25 by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, who also holds the Finance portfolio. In his inaugural budget speech, he proposed renaming the ‘Mo School Abhiyan’ to ‘Panchasakha Sikhya Setu Abhiyan’ with an allocation of Rs 332 crore.
Launched by the previous BJD government on November 14, 2017, the ‘Mo School Abhiyan’ aimed to improve government schools by fostering collaboration among alumni, schools, and the community.
