Odisha CM reviews security amid India-Pakistan tensions, ensures protection of strategic installations

Bhubaneswar, May 9: Amid rising tensions between India and Pakistan, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Friday assured the public that all necessary precautions are being taken to safeguard key installations and ensure the safety of citizens in the state. Emphasizing heightened vigilance, Majhi stated that the Centre is closely monitoring the situation, particularly in coastal regions and areas of strategic importance in Odisha.
Key defence establishments like the Integrated Test Range (ITR) and the Proof and Experimental Establishment (PXE) of the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), located in Chandipur, Balasore, are under enhanced surveillance due to their potential vulnerability in the event of hostilities.
The Chief Minister highlighted that the state, in coordination with the Central government, has taken concrete steps following detailed assessments of potential threats. High-level security meetings are ongoing to further reinforce protective measures. Additional security checks will be enforced, and sensitive zones are being sealed off.
Majhi also announced initiatives to bring back Odia residents, including students, from sensitive areas outside the state. A 24x7 help desk has been established at the Resident Commissioner’s office in New Delhi. Several Odia students in Jammu are already being relocated to Delhi as a precaution.
