Odisha CM confirms renewal of health insurance cards for working journalists

Bhubaneswar, Aug 22: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi confirmed on Thursday that the state government will continue its health insurance scheme for working journalists. In a written response to a query from Congress MLA Tara Prasad Bahinipati during the Assembly session, the Chief Minister assured that the Gopabandhu Sambadika Swasthya Bima Yojana will remain in effect. He stated that the renewal of health cards is underway and will be completed promptly.

The renewal process for the Gopabandhu Sambadika Swasthya Bima Yojana is currently under review. The Chief Minister emphasized that once approved, the renewal will be finalized before the existing cards' validity expires on August 31, 2024.

Since its inception in 2018, the scheme has provided health insurance coverage to working journalists and their families across Odisha. Traditionally, insurance cards are renewed annually in August before they expire. However, due to recent changes in government, the renewal process for this year has yet to commence.
