Night temperatures in Odisha expected to drop from January 20

Bhubaneswar, Jan 15: Odisha is set to face a cold wave starting January 20, with night temperatures anticipated to drop by 2-3 degrees Celsius, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD). The regional IMD center has forecast that most areas in the state will experience nighttime temperatures ranging from 13 to 15 degrees Celsius, signaling a significant chill for residents.
In addition to the dropping temperatures, several districts, including Jharsuguda, Keonjhar, Sambalpur, Sundergarh, Cuttack, Khordha, Puri, Ganjam, and Gajapati, are likely to experience dense fog on both Wednesday and Thursday, impacting visibility and potentially leading to disruptions in travel.
The IMD has specifically warned that on Thursday, these districts may encounter particularly thick fog, making conditions hazardous for commuters. As a precursor to the cold wave, Monday saw the lowest temperature recorded in Daringibadi at 9.5 degrees Celsius, with other regions like Phulbani at 11.5 degrees, Rourkela at 11.7 degrees, and Bhadrak at 12 degrees Celsius. Residents are advised to take precautions against the cold, particularly during nighttime hours.
