DRI and Customs seize over 4 kg of marijuana at Bhubaneswar Airport

Bhubaneswar, Jan 15: Officials from the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) and Customs seized over four kilograms of narcotic drugs, including marijuana, from a man at Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA) in Bhubaneswar.
The suspect was reportedly transporting the illegal substances, processed in Germany, from Bangkok to Bhubaneswar, concealing them within biscuit packets. Acting on a tip-off, DRI and Customs officials conducted a special operation targeting the accused, who is a resident of Kerala.
Upon his arrival on a flight from Bangkok on Tuesday night, officials detained him and performed a detailed search of his luggage, leading to the discovery of the narcotics. Following the seizure, the accused was interrogated to determine the extent of the smuggling operation and to identify any accomplices involved in the illegal activities.
This incident comes shortly after Customs officials arrested two women from Kolkata for smuggling over nine kilograms of marijuana from Malaysia to Bhubaneswar, highlighting ongoing efforts to combat drug trafficking in the region.
