IndiGo suspends Bhubaneswar–Abu Dhabi flights amid Middle East unrest

Bhubaneswar, June 24: IndiGo Airlines has temporarily suspended its direct flight services between Bhubaneswar and Abu Dhabi due to rising tensions in the Middle East. The airline has halted operations of flight 6E 1442 (Bhubaneswar to Abu Dhabi) and flight 6E 1441 (Abu Dhabi to Bhubaneswar) as a precautionary measure to ensure the safety of passengers and crew.
The decision follows recent geopolitical developments in the region, including escalating conflict between Iran and Israel, as well as reported U.S. airstrikes on Iranian nuclear facilities. These incidents have heightened security concerns across the aviation sector, prompting IndiGo to suspend several international routes temporarily.
In an official update posted on social media, the airline stated: “In view of the evolving situation in the Middle East, our flight operations to and from Dubai, Doha, Bahrain, Dammam, Abu Dhabi, Kuwait, Madinah, Fujairah, Jeddah, Muscat, Sharjah, Riyadh, Ras Al-Khaimah, and Tbilisi have been suspended at least until 10:00 am today. We regret the inconvenience and assure passengers this step is purely a proactive safety measure.”
The Bhubaneswar–Abu Dhabi route had only recently commenced on June 12 with a formal inauguration attended by Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi at Biju Patnaik International Airport.
