IMD warns of reduced visibility and chilly temperatures across Odisha

Bhubaneswar, Jan 13: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) regional office in Bhubaneswar has issued a dense fog alert for 11 districts in Odisha, including Sambalpur, Kalahandi, Cuttack, Khurda, Puri, Jajpur, Bhadrak, Ganjam, Gajapati, Jagatsinghpur, and Kendrapara, effective until the morning of January 14.

The alert comes as various areas in the state, particularly the capital Bhubaneswar and Cuttack, experienced dense fog on Monday, reducing visibility to less than 50 meters and significantly disrupting vehicular traffic.

In terms of temperature fluctuations, the IMD forecasts a rise in minimum temperatures by 2°C to 4°C across the state over the next two days, followed by a drop of 2°C to 3°C in the subsequent three days. Currently, many places in Odisha are facing chilly weather, with temperatures dipping below 10°C. G Udayagiri, located in Kandhamal, reported the lowest temperature at 5.2°C in the last 24 hours.

Bhubaneswar and Cuttack recorded night temperatures of 13.2°C and 12.8°C, respectively. No significant weather changes are anticipated until January 16.
