Health Minister announces rollout of National Digital Health Mission in Odisha

Bhubaneswar, Jan 2: The Odisha government is preparing to launch the National Digital Health Mission (NDHM), which will allow patients to access their medical records from a single account.

Health Minister Mukesh Mahaling emphasized that this initiative aims to transform healthcare in the state by establishing a cohesive digital platform for managing medical data. This means patients will no longer need to carry multiple prescriptions when visiting different healthcare providers.

As part of this new system, the Ayushman Bharat Health Account (ABHA) card will be introduced under the guidance of the National Health Authority (NHA). Mahaling explained that residents can register their health information through these cards. By scanning the QR code on the card, healthcare providers will be able to quickly retrieve a patient’s medical history, including previous conditions and treatments.

The NDHM promotes the digital management of medical data, enhancing the accessibility and efficiency of healthcare services. Individuals can apply for the ABHA card online, which will be linked to the Ayushman Bharat scheme. The state government aims to distribute these cards to beneficiaries by February 2025, according to Mahaling.
