DAV Pokhariput children donate to old age home and orphanage

Bhubaneswar, Oct 1: On the eve of Joy of Giving Week, the young students from the morning wing of DAV Public School, Pokhariput, actively participated in "Dan Utsav" by donating essential food and sanitary items to the Missionaries of Charity Old Age Home in Satyanagar and Ashraya, an orphanage in Dumduma, Bhubaneswar. The children, guided by their teachers and supervisor, distributed rice, potatoes, groceries, dry food, toiletries, detergents, bed sheets, blankets, and other necessities, embodying the phrase, “Service to mankind is service to God.”
This annual initiative, led by the morning wing Supervisor, Sanghamitra Satapathy, helps children understand the values of compassion and the concept of “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam” or “One world, one family,” a principle rooted in India’s cultural heritage. Through these visits, the kids gain a sense of empathy and awareness of the challenges others face.
Principal Bipin Kumar Sahu commended the children and urged parents to encourage their kids to extend the spirit of "Joy of Giving" beyond the school’s events, making generosity a year-round practice. The Joy of Giving Week, celebrated from October 2-8, promotes philanthropy and Indian values in daily life.
