Class X girl gives birth in Odisha hostel after board exam, investigation underway

Bhubaneswar, Feb 25: A shocking incident has come to light in Odisha’s Malkangiri district, where a Class X girl student of a government-run residential school in the Chitrakonda area gave birth to a baby boy. The incident occurred on Monday evening after the girl returned to her hostel from appearing in her annual board examination.

According to reports, the girl, who had just finished writing her High School Certificate (HSC) exam, went back to the hostel as usual. However, after some time, she delivered a baby boy, shocking the hostel authorities. The warden immediately informed her father, and when the family arrived, they discovered that their daughter had given birth. She was later shifted to the Sub-Divisional Hospital in Chitrakonda for further medical care.

What has raised serious concerns is that the girl had been attending school regularly and writing exams without any staff noticing her condition. The girl’s parents have blamed the school authorities for negligence, while teachers have pointed fingers at the hostel warden.

Following the incident, Chitrakonda police have launched an investigation, and the District Welfare Officer (DWO) has also ordered a detailed probe into the matter.
