CHSE orders schools to ensure CCTV functionality for upcoming exams

Bhubaneswar, Sept 9: The Council of Higher Secondary Education (CHSE) in Odisha has issued a directive to school principals and heads, mandating that all CCTVs in examination halls and strong rooms be fully operational. In a communication sent to school authorities earlier this month, CHSE emphasized the need for a smooth and transparent conduct of the Annual Higher Secondary Examination, 2025.

The letter from Controller of Examinations Prasanta Kumar Parida specifies that all affiliated higher secondary schools must record activities in examination halls, strong rooms, Centre Superintendent offices, and laboratories (for self-financing schools) using CCTV cameras. Additionally, it is required to provide live streaming of CCTV footage to allow monitoring by CHSE officials, the School and Mass Education department, and district authorities.

Schools must adhere to these guidelines and ensure compliance by November 15. Failure to install the necessary CCTV systems and meet CHSE requirements by the deadline could result in the cancellation of the examination centre (for both theory and practical exams) and other potential actions by the state government.
