Swabhiman Odia Charitable Trust event promotes dance, music, and cultural pride

Bhubaneswar, Aug 25: The Swabhiman Odia Charitable Trustorganized the Capital Dance and Music Festival along with the Swabhiman Honor program, celebrating Odisha’s rich cultural legacy at Guru Kelu Charan Mahapatra of the Odisha Research Center,

Padma Shri Ashok Mahapatra graced the event as chief guest, while Guru Nimai Charan Lenka, social workers Suchismita Prusti and Manasi Padhy, senior journalist Akshay Sahu, and journalist Arundhati Malik attended as honored guests.

Speaking on the occasion, Ashok Mahapatra emphasized that the initiative was a vital step in preserving Odisha’s dance and music traditions for future generations, calling it a duty to safeguard the state’s art and identity. Social worker Suchismita Prusti highlighted that Odia culture has earned global recognition through its traditional performances, instilling pride in Odisha’s heritage.

The evening featured enthralling presentations of Chhau and other traditional Odia dances, alongside music performances. Vocal artist Sohini Mishra, journalist Aaradhana, film producer and social worker M.N. Agrawal, and Keshab Narayan Das of Surabhi Charitable Trust, Puri, were felicitated with the Swabhiman Honor.

The event drew a large audience and earned widespread appreciation for its contribution to promoting Odia art and culture.
