SOA hosts International Physiotherapy Conference

Bhubaneswar, Dec 14: Physiotherapy plays a vital role in the recovery process of patients, alongside medication and surgical treatment, said Prof. (Dr.) Brajakishore Das, Additional Director of Medical Education and Training in the Odisha government, on Saturday.
He emphasized the importance of physiotherapy for medical students, urging them to appreciate its role in healthcare during their academic journey. Prof. Das was speaking at the inauguration of the International Physiotherapy Conference at Siksha ‘O’ Anusandhan Deemed to be University (SOA).
The event was co-organized by the Physiotherapy department of the Institute of Medical Sciences and SUM Hospital, SOA's Faculty of Medicine, Utkal Unit of the Indian Association of Physiotherapy (IAP), and the Women’s Cell of IPA.
Prof. (Dr.) Sanghamitra Mishra, Dean of IMS and SUM Hospital, acknowledged the contributions of the physiotherapy department, while Prof. (Dr.) Pusparaj Samantasinhar, Medical Superintendent, highlighted how physiotherapy is aiding patients recovering from cardiac issues and complex ailments.
Other speakers included Dr. Sanjeev Jha, National President of IAP, Dr. Ruchi Varshney, President of IAP’s Women’s Cell, and Dr. Stitipragya Dalabehera, Chairperson of the conference and Head of the Physiotherapy Department at IMS and SUM Hospital.
