Odisha issues directive for timely pension payments on retirement day
Bhubaneswar, Nov 23: The Odisha government has issued a directive to all departments, ensuring that employees receive their full pension on the day of their retirement. Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja has sent a letter to all departments, emphasizing the need for complete pension disbursement on the day of retirement for all employees.
Officials authorized to sanction pensions have also been instructed to guarantee the full pension payment for eligible employees upon their superannuation.
Previously, the General Administration and Grievance Redressal Department had been tasked with ensuring pension payments on the retirement day, but this was not consistently followed across all departments.
Under the Odisha Civil Services Pension Rules of 1992, steps have been outlined to ensure that pensions are processed fully on time. Employees facing allegations or vigilance cases are required to resolve them before their retirement date. This move is being implemented to promote good governance and fairness, recognizing employees' contributions.
Additionally, pension-related details for retired employees are to be submitted by the seventh of each month, as stated in the directive.
