New crowd management system to enhance darshan experience at Puri Srimandir

Bhubaneswar, Oct 14: To facilitate a smooth and hassle-free darshan experience for devotees at the Puri Srimandir, plans are underway to install ramps and barricades at the historic 12th-century temple. On Monday, a potential design for a collapsible crowd management system was unveiled.

According to reports, the proposed wooden ramp and barricade setup will be implemented within the temple premises, creating designated queues for men, women, children, senior citizens, and differently-abled individuals.

The barricading will begin at the 'Sata Pahacha,' guiding devotees through to the Nata Mandap for darshan. Additionally, a ramp will be placed at 'Bahara Katha,' allowing visitors to ascend easily for a clear view of the Holy Trinity before exiting via the 'Ghanti Dwara.'

Law Minister Prithviraj Harichandan emphasized that this initiative aims to promote orderly darshan at the shrine. “We aim to establish a disciplined darshan system starting from the Margasira month in the Odia calendar. A high-level meeting regarding various temple projects is set for October 18. Devotees will enter through Sata Pahacha and exit via Ghanti Dwara,” he noted, adding that the system is designed to minimize chaos and reduce waiting times.
