Naveen dismisses VK Pandian as successor, leaves decision to Odisha voters

Bhubaneswar, May 30: Addressing speculation about his successor, Odisha Chief Minister and BJD President Naveen Patnaik emphasized on Thursday that VK Pandian is not designated as his successor, emphasizing that the people of Odisha will ultimately determine this matter.

During an exclusive interview with a national news agency, the BJD leader reiterated this stance. When questioned about opposition allegations regarding VK Pandian's influence over decisions, Patnaik dismissed these claims, labeling them as baseless and outdated.

Regarding concerns about Pandian being elevated above other BJD leaders, Patnaik expressed his disapproval, stating that such notions are nonsensical. He affirmed the significant roles held by party members, including ministers and representatives, within the democratic framework.

Responding to recent remarks by the Prime Minister about forming a special committee to assess his health if BJP assumes power, Patnaik dismissed it as a political tactic. He remarked that if PM Modi genuinely cared about his health, a simple phone call would have sufficed instead of making public statements solely for electoral gains. Patnaik debunked rumors about his health, asserting that he is in excellent condition despite claims suggesting otherwise.

Addressing a viral video depicting his hand tremor and assistance from an associate, Patnaik clarified that it was not indicative of any medical issue. He dismissed it as an exaggerated portrayal by a BJP Chief Minister, affirming his robust health and active campaigning throughout the election season.
