IMD forecasts heavy rainfall and thunderstorms across Odisha till August 22

Bhubaneswar, Aug 20: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a weather alert for heavy rainfall and thunderstorms with lightning in several Odisha districts on August 21 and 22.
The IMD forecast indicates that on August 21, districts including Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Cuttack, Nabarangapur, Koraput, Kalahandi, Rayagada, Gajapati, Balasore, Bargarh, and Nuapada are expected to experience heavy rainfall ranging from 7 to 11 cm, accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning in one or two locations.
On August 22, similar conditions are anticipated in the districts of Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, and Deogarh, with heavy rainfall (7 to 11 cm) and thunderstorms with lightning predicted.
For August 23, the IMD forecast suggests that heavy rainfall is not expected. However, on August 24, heavy rainfall (7 to 11 cm) and thunderstorms with lightning are anticipated in districts including Sundargarh, Bargarh, Nuapada, Bolangir, Sonepur, Nabarangapur, Kalahandi, Koraput, Rayagada, and Gajapati.
Looking ahead to August 25, the IMD predicts heavy rainfall (7 to 11 cm) and thunderstorms with lightning in Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Cuttack, Bhadrak, Bargarh, Nuapada, Bolangir, Sonepur, Boudh, Kandhamal, and Nayagarh.
