East Coast Railway sets record with fastest-ever freight loading

Bhubaneswar, Aug 27: East Coast Railway (ECoR) has achieved a remarkable milestone in freight transportation by loading 100.57 million tons (MT) of freight in just 148 days during the fiscal year 2024-25, up to August 26, 2024. This achievement marks the fastest-ever loading of this volume by any division, setting a new benchmark for Indian Railways.

In comparison, ECoR took 152 days to achieve the same figure during the 2023-24 fiscal year. As of August 26, 2024, ECoR has reported a 3.37% increase in freight loading, with an additional 3.282 million tons compared to the previous year's 97.288 MT.

The success is attributed to the impressive performance of ECoR’s three divisions: Khurda Road, Waltair, and Sambalpur.

Major contributors to this milestone include industrial hubs and ports such as Talcher, Paradeep, Dhamara, Visakhapatnam, Gangavaram, Keonjhar, the KK Line, steel plants, and aluminum plants.

Division-wise contributions show Khurda Road Division leading with 64.32 MT, followed by Waltair Division with 27.675 MT, and Sambalpur Division with 8.575 MT.

This record achievement highlights ECoR’s dedication to enhancing national economic growth through efficient and timely freight transportation, setting a new standard for Indian Railways.
