East Coast Railway approves 170 ROBs as special railway projects

Bhubaneswar, Dec 19: In a major advancement for infrastructure and public safety, the General Manager of East Coast Railway (ECoR) has approved the designation of 170 Road Over Bridge (ROB) construction projects as Special Railway Projects, as per the Railway (Amendment) Act, 2008.

This pivotal decision is expected to expedite the implementation of these critical infrastructure initiatives by streamlining the land acquisition process and expediting approvals. By classifying these projects as Special Railway Projects, ECoR seeks to enhance collaboration with state authorities, facilitating timely completions and improving operational efficiency.

Among the 170 projects, 110 will be situated in Odisha and 60 in Andhra Pradesh. These ROBs will not only bolster rail infrastructure but also significantly enhance the safety and convenience for both road and rail users. The removal of manned level crossings will decrease the likelihood of accidents, improve traffic flow, and enhance the mobility of train operations.

Furthermore, these initiatives are anticipated to alleviate traffic congestion at level crossing gates, fostering seamless connectivity throughout the region. By prioritizing public safety and infrastructure growth, the 170 ROB projects are in line with national objectives to expand and modernize transportation systems while promoting public welfare.

ECoR remains committed to delivering projects that foster regional development and meet the increasing infrastructure demands of both road and rail users, ensuring safe and efficient rail services that contribute to the socio-economic progress of the eastern region.
