Odisha CM lays foundation for Rs 1,535 crore projects on Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas
Bhubaneswar, Nov 15: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi inaugurated development projects worth Rs 1,535 crore for tribal communities during the Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas (Tribal Pride Day) celebrations.
The event was held at Janata Maidan in Bhubaneswar, where the Chief Minister laid the foundation stones for various initiatives. While Prime Minister Narendra Modi participated in the national event at Jamui, Bihar, Majhi joined the proceedings via video conference from Bhubaneswar.
Paying tribute to the legendary tribal freedom fighter Birsa Munda, Majhi acknowledged his vital role in the country's freedom struggle, emphasizing that his sacrifice would never be forgotten. The Chief Minister also highlighted the significance of Janjatiya Diwas in preserving and promoting tribal culture and traditions. He honored other notable tribal freedom fighters, including Sahid Laxman Nayak and Rando Majhi, for their contributions.
Majhi further spoke about the Dharti Aaba Janjatiya Gram Utkarsh Yojana (DAJGUY), launched by the Prime Minister to enhance infrastructure in tribal areas. The initiative covers 7,667 villages in 27 Odisha districts. On this occasion, Majhi laid the foundation for the upgrade of 16 Ashram Schools, the construction of hostels for 426 primary schools, and a Rs 100 crore Janajati Sanskruti O Aitihya Bhavan in Bhubaneswar. Additionally, habitat rights were granted to 8 Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTGs) during the event.
