Vigilance teams raid Deputy Collector's properties over alleged development fund misuse
Bhubaneswar, Aug 14: Odisha Vigilance officials today conducted coordinated raids at the properties of Pariktha Jena, the Deputy Collector of Nilagiri, in connection with allegations of misappropriating Rs 1.01 crore from the Odisha Mineral Bearing Area Development Corporation (OMBADC).
The funds were reportedly allocated for various developmental projects in the Suliapada block for the fiscal years 2021-22 and 2022-23 but were not utilized as intended. Jena, who previously served as the Block Development Officer (BDO) of Suliapada in Mayurbhanj district, is under scrutiny.
According to an Odisha Vigilance press release, the raids aim to investigate the allegations and gather evidence. The operation involves six teams, including two Additional SPs, four DSPs, six Inspectors, seven ASIs, and other supporting personnel. The searches are ongoing, and a comprehensive report is expected once the investigation is complete.
