Tourist dies mysteriously at Konark Eco-Retreat; probe underway

Bhubaneswar, Feb 2: A tourist died under mysterious circumstances at the Konark Eco-Retreat in Odisha’s Puri district on Sunday, raising concerns over the cause of his sudden demise.

The deceased has been identified as Md Alam Hussain, a resident of Patia in Bhubaneswar. According to sources, Hussain had booked a cottage at the eco-retreat for a short getaway. Accompanied by his wife, he checked in on Saturday and spent the night at the resort.

However, on Sunday afternoon, Hussain suddenly fell ill. His wife and resort staff immediately rushed him to the Community Health Centre (CHC) in Gop, located near Konark. Despite their efforts, doctors at the hospital declared him brought dead upon arrival.

Following the incident, local police arrived at the CHC and sent the body for post-mortem to determine the exact cause of death. They have registered a case of unnatural death and initiated an investigation.

While police await the post-mortem report, Hussain’s family mentioned that he was diabetic, suggesting that his medical condition might have played a role in his untimely death.
