IMD issues yellow warning for heavy rain, thunderstorms in Odisha till July 31

Bhubaneswar, July 29: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow warning for several districts in Odisha, forecasting heavy rain, thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds between 30 to 40 kmph until July 31. The alert urges residents to remain cautious and avoid outdoor activities during severe weather.
As per the IMD’s mid-day weather bulletin, isolated heavy rain and thunderstorms are highly likely on July 30 in the districts of Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Nuapada, Kalahandi, and Bolangir. Additionally, similar weather conditions accompanied by gusty surface winds are expected in Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, and Dhenkanal.
The yellow warning extends into July 31 for a broader range of districts, including Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, and Dhenkanal.
The IMD has advised fishermen, farmers, and commuters to remain alert, as sudden downpours and strong winds may disrupt daily activities and transport.
No significant weather warnings are expected after July 31, and normal weather conditions are likely to resume thereafter, according to the IMD.
