IMD issues yellow warning for dense fog in seven Odisha districts on December 5–6
Bhubaneswar, Dec 4: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow warning for dense fog across seven districts of Odisha—Sundargarh, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Koraput, Jharsuguda, Balangir and Sonepur—for December 5 and 6. According to the latest bulletin, “dense fog is very likely to occur at one or two places” in these districts during the early morning and late-night hours.
With winter conditions intensifying, the IMD has cautioned that the dense fog may significantly disrupt normal life. Reduced visibility could pose challenges for motorists travelling along highways, major roads, and interior routes. Pedestrians too may face difficulties, especially during morning commutes. Authorities have advised residents of the affected districts to avoid unnecessary travel and remain alert while moving outdoors.
The IMD has specifically warned drivers about drastically reduced visibility and urged them to use fog lights, maintain safe speeds, and follow standard road safety protocols to prevent accidents. Transport and emergency services have also been asked to remain prepared for potential disruptions. As fog-related issues are likely to persist, the weather department recommends staying updated through official forecasts and advisories.
