IMD forecasts ongoing rain in Odisha as low-pressure area develops over Tamil Nadu
Bhubaneswar, Dec 2: The remnants of Cyclone Fengal, now weakened into a well-marked low-pressure area over North Interior Tamil Nadu, are expected to bring continued rainfall to Odisha until December 5.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) announced on Monday that this low-pressure area is likely to move towards the southeast and the adjoining east-central Arabian Sea off the coasts of north Kerala and Karnataka around December 3.
As a result, wind patterns and associated cloudiness have already begun to affect southern coastal districts of Odisha, including the twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack. The weather agency forecasts light to moderate rain at one or two locations across various districts.
Specifically, on December 2, areas such as South Coastal Odisha, Kandhamal, Koraput, Kalahandi, Rayagada, Malkangiri, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, and Nabarangpur may experience rainfall. From December 3 to 4, rainfall is anticipated in Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Gajapati, Ganjam, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Koraput, and Malkangiri. Finally, on December 5, Koraput, Malkangiri, Rayagada, and Gajapati are expected to see rain. Meanwhile, Bhubaneswar and Cuttack will likely experience a cloudy sky accompanied by light rain over the next 24 hours.
