IMD forecasts low-pressure formation over Bay of Bengal around May 27

Bhubaneswar, May 22: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted the formation of a low-pressure area over the west-central and adjoining north Bay of Bengal around May 27. According to the latest tropical weather outlook issued on Thursday, the system is likely to become more marked over the following two days, potentially impacting weather conditions in nearby regions.

“Favorable atmospheric conditions are developing over the Bay of Bengal for the formation of a low-pressure area around May 27,” the IMD stated. However, it also noted a significant divergence among forecast models regarding the system’s intensity and track.

Despite this, the IMD emphasized a general agreement across models on the likelihood of formation and gradual intensification of the system.

As the system develops, it may lead to enhanced rainfall activity, especially along the eastern coast of India. Meteorologists warn that the strengthening of the system could influence local weather patterns.

Residents in coastal regions are advised to remain alert and follow official advisories. Fishermen are particularly urged to monitor IMD updates regularly and avoid venturing into rough seas during this period.
