CM Mohan Majhi addresses 1,400 grievances in Sambalpur public hearing

Bhubaneswar, April 21: In a significant move towards inclusive governance, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi held a public grievance redressal session in Sambalpur on Monday—marking the first time the programme was conducted outside the state capital. The 10th edition of this initiative witnessed the Chief Minister and his cabinet taking direct note of citizen concerns at the Sambalpur Municipal Corporation office.
Over 1,400 complaints were received, with around 1,000 submitted online and 400 offline. A streamlined single-window mechanism allowed immediate action, particularly benefitting individuals suffering from serious or terminal illnesses. Eighteen beneficiaries were granted financial assistance amounting to ₹19.5 lakh from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund. A dedicated medical team was also deployed to facilitate prompt support.
Citizens raised a wide range of concerns, including issues related to pensions, infrastructure, and local development. Ministers and senior officials issued real-time instructions to the concerned departments to ensure quick redressal.
Senior bureaucrats including Additional Chief Secretaries Satyabrata Sahu, Surendra Kumar, and Deo Ranjan Kumar Singh coordinated the efforts. CM Majhi described the session as a reflection of “people-centric governance” and acknowledged PM Narendra Modi’s appreciation of the initiative. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to holding similar sessions across the state.
