Odisha night temperatures set to fall with chance of light rain

Bhubaneswar, Dec 9: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) announced on Monday that Odisha is expected to experience a decrease in night temperatures by 3-5 degrees Celsius over the next three days.

The IMD also indicated that light rain may occur in isolated areas within Puri, Khurda, Cuttack, Dhenkanal, Jajpur, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Sundargarh, Deogarh, and Sambalpur districts. This is attributed to moisture entering the region due to a low-pressure system developing over the southeast Bay of Bengal and the adjacent eastern Equatorial Indian Ocean.

The weather system is anticipated to shift west-northwest and intensify over the next 24 hours, eventually reaching the southwest Bay of Bengal near the Sri Lanka-Tamil Nadu coasts around December 11.

However, no rainfall is predicted for Odisha from December 10 onward, with dry conditions expected.

In addition, Delhi and its neighboring regions might face cold wave conditions this week, with temperatures predicted to drop by six degrees Celsius. Similar cold wave conditions are also anticipated in certain areas of Jammu-Kashmir, Ladakh, Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, and Madhya Pradesh until December 13.
