Gram Sabha backs 2.72-km CDP Road linking Khandagiri to New City
Bhubaneswar, Oct 29: Bhubaneswar, Oct 29: The Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA) on Tuesday organized a Gram Sabha at Andharua Panchayat to deliberate on the construction of a crucial Comprehensive Development Plan (CDP) Road connecting Khandagiri–Chandaka Road to Andharua and Daspur (New City).
The meeting, held in accordance with the Forest (Conservation) Act, 1980, was chaired by Swarnalata Baliyarsingh, Sarpanch of Andharua. Key officials present included Devi Prasad Mohanty (BDO, Bhubaneswar), Prateek Patnaik (Land Acquisition Officer, BDA), Sabyasachi Khuntia (Revenue Inspector, Andharua), and Dhyan Tudu (Deputy Ranger, Chandaka Wildlife Division).
The Gram Sabha unanimously endorsed the construction of the 2.72-kilometre-long and 200-feet-wide CDP Road, to be executed by the BDA. Officials emphasized that the proposed road would significantly improve connectivity, enhance local infrastructure, and accelerate economic activities in Andharua and surrounding areas. The project is expected to serve as a catalyst for development in the region, ensuring smoother transport and greater accessibility to the emerging New City area.
This initiative is part of BDA’s comprehensive plan to develop 24 CDP roads across Bhubaneswar, aimed at strengthening urban mobility and promoting balanced city expansion. Among the key upcoming projects are the approach road to the New Bhubaneswar Railway Station, the Nuagaon–Kateni connector via TP Scheme No. 08, and the Khandagiri–Chandaka–Andharua–Daspur corridor, all vital to the New City’s framework.
Covering nearly 800 acres across Gothapatna, Malipada, and Dasapur mouzas, the New City Project envisions a modern, inclusive, and sustainable urban hub within the Bhubaneswar Development Plan Area (BDPA), ushering in a new era of planned urban growth for the capital city.
