Bhubaneswar to host Global Visa Application Center, bringing major relief to Odisha travellers

Bhubaneswar, Dec 15: In a major convenience boost for international travellers from Odisha, the state government has approved the establishment of a Global Visa Application Center in Bhubaneswar, ending the long wait for a local visa facility. Until now, applicants from the state were compelled to travel to distant cities such as Kolkata, Delhi or Hyderabad to complete visa-related formalities.

Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has given the green signal for setting up the centre, which will function from the Babasaheb Ambedkar Bus Terminal Building at Baramunda in the state capital. To facilitate the project, the Odisha government will provide 3,000 square feet of space, ensuring adequate infrastructure for smooth operations.

The decision follows persistent demands from students, professionals, tourists and business travellers who have long sought a visa application facility within the state. The new centre is expected to significantly reduce travel costs, save time, and ease the overall application process for Odias planning to go abroad.

Officials believe the facility will cater to applicants from across Odisha, further strengthening Bhubaneswar’s role as an emerging administrative and service hub. The move has been widely welcomed by the public, who see it as a long-overdue step toward improving access to international travel services. With the centre in place, applying for overseas visas is set to become far more accessible and efficient for residents of the state.
