Bhubaneswar, June 30: Union Home Minister Amit Shah is scheduled to undertake a two-day visit to Odisha on July 4 and 5, during which he will inaugurate a major ethanol plant in Bargarh, lay the foundation stones for several development projects in Sambalpur, and address public meetings, state Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari said on Tuesday.
According to Pujari, Shah will arrive at Jharsuguda Airport on July 4 before travelling by road to Bargarh. His first major engagement will be the inauguration of a state-of-the-art ethanol plant built at an investment of ₹1,750 crore. The project is expected to boost industrial growth, generate employment opportunities, and strengthen the region’s biofuel production capacity.
Following the inauguration, the Union Home Minister is scheduled to address a public gathering in Bargarh, where he is likely to highlight the Centre’s development initiatives and interact with local residents and party workers.
After completing his programmes in Bargarh, Shah will travel to Sambalpur, where he will stay overnight ahead of the second day of his visit.
On July 5, Shah will participate in a series of official events in Sambalpur. He is slated to lay the foundation stones for multiple infrastructure and development projects aimed at accelerating the region’s growth. The Home Minister will also attend and address a public meeting organised by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), where he is expected to outline the party’s vision for Odisha and review its organisational activities in the state.
The visit is considered politically significant as it comes amid the BJP government’s continued focus on accelerating development projects in Odisha and strengthening the party’s organisational base. Security arrangements have been intensified in both Bargarh and Sambalpur to ensure the smooth conduct of the high-profile visit.
After completing his engagements on July 5, Shah is scheduled to return to New Delhi.
