Bhubaneswar, April 21: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a Yellow Warning for thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty surface winds across multiple districts of Odisha, as per the Midday Weather Bulletin released by the Meteorological Centre Bhubaneswar.
Thunderstorms with lightning and winds reaching 40–50 kmph are very likely at isolated places in Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj districts. Similar weather conditions, with wind speeds of 30–40 kmph, are expected in districts including Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Koraput, Angul, Dhenkanal, Balasore, Bhadrak, Cuttack, Puri, Khurda, Ganjam, and Gajapati, among others.
Light to moderate rain or thundershowers are likely at one or two places across these 24 districts, while other parts of the state may experience dry weather. Coastal districts such as Balasore, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, and Puri are also likely to witness hot and humid conditions.
Recent rainfall activity has already been recorded, with Khajuripada in Kandhamal receiving 3 cm and several locations in Mayurbhanj reporting 1–2 cm.
Meanwhile, temperatures have dropped by around 3°C in parts of South Interior Odisha, while South Coastal regions saw a slight rise. Titilagarh recorded the highest temperature at 42.5°C, while Keonjhar reported the lowest minimum at 19.1°C.
