Bhubaneswar, Sep 11: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued Orange and Yellow warnings for several districts of Odisha, forecasting heavy to very heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds over the next three days.
For Day 1, valid until 8:30 am on September 12, heavy to very heavy rainfall is very likely at one or two places in Nabarangapur, Koraput and Malkangiri, where an Orange Warning has been issued. Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty surface winds reaching 40-50 kmph are also likely in Subarnapur, Boudh, Nuapada, Balangir, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Nabarangapur, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri, Gajapati, Ganjam, Puri, Khordha and Nayagarh. These districts are under a Yellow Warning.
Heavy rainfall is also likely at isolated places in Baleshwar, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Mayurbhanj, Nuapada, Balangir, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Gajapati, Ganjam, Puri, Khordha and Nayagarh. Thunderstorms with lightning and winds of 30-40 kmph are expected in Baleshwar, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj.
For Day 2, from 8:30 am September 12 to 8:30 am September 13, a Yellow Warning has been issued. Heavy rainfall is likely in Nuapada, Balangir, Kalahandi, Nabarangapur and Koraput, while thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds up to 30-40 kmph may occur in several districts.
For Day 3, from September 13 to 14, thunderstorms with lightning and winds reaching 30-40 kmph are likely in several coastal and southern districts, including Puri, Ganjam, Gajapati, Khordha and Nayagarh.
