Bhubaneswar, Sep 10: Direct flight services between Bhubaneswar and Bangkok will resume from October 2, bringing back a convenient international air link between Odisha’s capital and the Thai capital. The service will operate twice a week from Biju Patnaik International Airport, Bhubaneswar.
The direct flight service had been temporarily suspended earlier due to concerns over a possible shortfall in passenger load. However, with the tourism season set to begin in October and travel demand expected to increase, the service is now being resumed.
Bhubaneswar Airport Director Prasanna Pradhan informed about the resumption of the international flight service. The restart is expected to provide greater convenience to passengers travelling between Odisha and Thailand for tourism, business, education and other purposes.
The direct air link is also likely to benefit passengers from neighbouring states who use Bhubaneswar as a major aviation gateway. With Bangkok being an important international destination and transit point, the service could provide travellers with improved access to Thailand and other destinations in Southeast Asia.
The resumption of the flight is expected to strengthen Odisha’s international air connectivity and support the state’s growing tourism and business sectors. Easier connectivity could also encourage greater movement of international tourists and business visitors to Odisha.
The service is being viewed as a significant step towards expanding Bhubaneswar’s international flight network and improving the city’s position as a key aviation gateway in eastern India.
