Bhubaneswar, April 10: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow warning for hot and humid weather conditions across several districts of Odisha for the next six days, cautioning residents to take preventive measures.
As per the IMD’s special bulletin, hot and humid conditions are very likely to prevail on April 11 and 12 at isolated places in Balasore, Bhadrak, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Jajpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Gajapati, and Ganjam. These districts are expected to experience high discomfort levels due to rising humidity combined with elevated temperatures.
For April 13 and 14, the IMD has predicted heatwave conditions at one or two places in Balangir, Bargarh, and Sambalpur. Simultaneously, hot and humid weather will continue in the coastal and adjoining districts, extending the period of uncomfortable weather across the state.
On April 15 and 16, the same set of coastal and southern districts is likely to continue experiencing hot and humid conditions, indicating a prolonged spell of sultry weather.
The IMD has advised people to remain cautious, especially during peak daytime hours, as such conditions may lead to dehydration and heat-related illnesses. Farmers and outdoor workers have been urged to avoid strenuous activities during the afternoon and instead schedule heavy work during early morning or evening hours.
