Bhubaneswar, Aug 25: Forty-six international students from 15 different countries received their degrees at a special graduation ceremony organised at Siksha ‘O’ Anusandhan (SOA) Deemed to be University here on Tuesday.
The students belonged to various academic disciplines and had completed courses including B.Tech, M.Tech, B.Pharm, B.Sc. (Agriculture), BBA, Master in Hospital Administration and B.Sc. (Optometry).
Prof. Maurice Kamga, Judge of the International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea, Hamburg, attended the ceremony as the chief guest along with his wife, Ms. Jeanne Kamga, who works with the International Court of Justice in The Hague. Prof. Kamga, a native of Cameroon, expressed satisfaction over the academic achievements of the international students, particularly those from his home country.
He also highlighted the growing academic cooperation between SOA and Cameroon, noting that the Hanseatic Institute of Technology and Applied Sciences at Douala had signed a Memorandum of Understanding with SOA for collaboration in higher education and research.
SOA Vice-Chancellor Prof. Pradipta Kumar Nanda presented the degrees to the graduating students and wished them success in their future endeavours. He said SOA had provided them with a platform not only for academic education but also for holistic development.
Prof. Nanda also said the students were graduating from the 15th-ranked university in India as per the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) 2026 and urged them to remain proud of their alma mater.
He encouraged the graduates to serve as brand ambassadors of SOA when they return to their respective countries.
Pro-Vice-Chancellors Prof. Anup Kumar Samantaray, Prof. Prashanta Kumar Patra and Prof. (Dr.) Neeta Mohanty, Controller of Examination Prof. Manjula Das, Deans and Additional Deans of various institutions were present at the ceremony.
Prof. Nachieketa K. Sharma, Director, University Outreach Program and International Relations, read out the list of graduating students, while Prof. Jyoti Ranjan Das, Dean (Students Welfare), conducted the programme.
