Bhubaneswar, Oct 7: A two-day graduation programme for students of the Institute of Technical Education and Research (ITER), faculty of engineering and technology of Siksha ‘O’ Anusandhan (SOA) Deemed to be University, concluded on Tuesday with degrees being conferred on students of the 2026 graduating batch.
The programme was organised to honour students who successfully completed B.Tech, M.Tech, BCA, MCA and M.Sc. programmes. On the first day, degrees were conferred on B.Tech students of the Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) department from the 2022–26 academic session.
On the second day, degrees were awarded to B.Tech graduates from disciplines including Civil Engineering, CSE, Computer Science and Information Technology, Electrical Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Data Science, Cyber Security, Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, and Internet of Things.
Postgraduate degrees were also conferred in Master of Computer Applications, Computer Science and Engineering, Structural Engineering, Power Systems and Power Electronics, Electronics and Communication (Communication System Engineering), and Heat Power and Thermal Engineering.
Addressing the graduates, Amit Kumar, Programme Director, Boston Consulting Group, urged them to embrace lifelong learning, punctuality and humility as they entered professional life. He said graduation should mark the beginning rather than the end of education, referring to the teachings of former President Dr A.P.J. Abdul Kalam and the Bhagavad Gita.
Saswati Pandab, Vice-President, Human Resources, GyanSys, also encouraged students to look beyond academic scores and develop the ability to continuously learn and adapt in an era shaped by artificial intelligence, digital technology and global collaboration.
SOA Vice-Chancellor Prof. Pradipta Kumar Nanda presided over the programme, administered the graduation oath and conferred degrees on students. He urged graduates to remain connected with the university and use their knowledge and skills for the benefit of society.
Prof. Pradip Kumar Sahu, Dean, ITER, highlighted the institute’s focus on research and development, noting that work was being undertaken in 18 key areas. He urged graduates to remain committed and work hard to excel in their chosen fields.
On the second day, Bibhu Panda, Centre Head, Tata Consultancy Services, Bhubaneswar, and Bikash Panigrahi, Director, Engineering AI and Data, Deloitte India, Bhubaneswar, attended the two sessions as chief guests.
Faculty members, department heads, university officials and staff were present during the programme.
