Bhubaneswar, Aug 17: More than one crore women beneficiaries of the Odisha government’s flagship Subhadra Yojana will receive the next, or fifth, instalment of financial assistance on August 28, coinciding with Raksha Purnima, Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida announced on Monday.
The instalment will be disbursed at a state-level programme to be held in Nayagarh, marking another major milestone in the implementation of the women-focused welfare scheme.
Parida said women who submit their applications by August 28 and fulfil all prescribed eligibility criteria will be considered for the benefit. She also clarified that eligible beneficiaries included in earlier lists but awaiting pending instalments may receive more than one instalment together, subject to completion of the required verification process.
According to the latest data, 1,15,75,633 applications have been registered under the Subhadra scheme so far. Of these, 3,17,966 fresh applications were received during the 2026-27 financial year.
Following the verification and eligibility assessment, 1,02,04,396 women were initially identified as potential beneficiaries for the fifth instalment. However, subsequent verification by district administrations found that 5,277 beneficiaries had died. Their names were subsequently removed from the beneficiary list.
Following the revision, the final number of beneficiaries eligible to receive the fifth instalment stands at 1,01,99,119 women.
The Subhadra scheme provides direct financial assistance to eligible women through their bank accounts, with the objective of promoting financial security and economic empowerment.
So far, the Odisha government has transferred more than Rs 12,064.86 crore directly into the bank accounts of over one crore women through four instalments.
The upcoming disbursement on Raksha Purnima is expected to further strengthen the government’s women-centric welfare initiatives and provide financial support to millions of women across Odisha.
