Bhubaneswar, June 24: A shocking murder case in Puri’s Baliapanda area has created tension among local residents after the owner of Manorama Hotel was allegedly murdered late on Tuesday night. Police have arrested the prime suspect following a dramatic operation during which the accused was injured while allegedly trying to flee from custody.
According to police sources, the accused has been identified as Chandan Palar, a resident of Chakratirtha Road in Puri. Soon after receiving information about the murder, Baliapanda Police launched an intensive investigation and began efforts to trace the suspect.
Acting on leads gathered during the preliminary probe, police tracked down Palar and attempted to apprehend him. However, officials said the accused allegedly tried to escape during the operation. In an effort to prevent his escape, police opened fire, resulting in a bullet injury to his left leg. He was immediately taken into custody and admitted to a hospital in Puri, where he is currently undergoing treatment.
The brutal killing of the hotel owner has sent shockwaves through the locality, with residents expressing concern over the incident. Senior police officials visited the crime scene and initiated a detailed investigation to establish the circumstances surrounding the murder.
Police are examining all possible angles, including personal rivalry, financial disputes and other potential motives. Forensic evidence is also being collected from the scene to aid the investigation.
Authorities have not yet disclosed the exact motive behind the crime, stating that the matter is under active investigation. Security has been strengthened in the area to maintain law and order as police continue questioning the accused and gathering evidence related to the case.
