Winter tightens grip on Odisha as temperatures dip below 15°C in 15 locations
Bhubaneswar, Nov 27: After a short spell of milder weather, winter has made a strong comeback across Odisha, with temperatures plummeting sharply in several parts of the state. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), as many as 15 locations recorded night temperatures below 15°C, signalling the strengthening of cold wave conditions. Notably, four places reported temperatures of 12°C or lower, marking one of the season’s coldest spells so far.
IMD forecasts indicate that the chill is likely to deepen, with night temperatures expected to drop by an additional 2–3°C over the next two days. Interior and southern Odisha are likely to remain particularly cold on Thursday and Friday. However, a slight relief is expected later, as temperatures are predicted to gradually rise by 2–3°C over the subsequent five days.
G Udayagiri emerged as the coldest location on Tuesday night, recording a minimum temperature of 8.6°C. It was followed by Daringbadi at 10°C, Rourkela at 10.1°C, and Jharsuguda at 10.4°C.
