Mother allegedly murdered by two sons in Cuttack’s Mahanadi Vihar

Bhubaneswar, Sept 14: In a tragic incident, a mother was killed by her two sons at Mahanadi Vihar in Cuttack on Saturday. The accused, Anurag Mohanty and Anshuman Mohanty, are believed to be suffering from mental health issues.

Sources report that the sons attacked their mother, Anima Mohanty, with a sharp weapon in the early hours of the day, resulting in her death at the scene. Neighbors, alarmed by her screams, quickly alerted the police.

Police has arrested one of the brothers, while the other remains at large. While the exact motive for the murder is unclear, it is suspected that the brothers' mental instability played a role, according to sources.

The family, who had resided at plot no. 714 in the area for many years, had long relied on Anima to care for her sons due to their mental health challenges. However, in recent days, their behavior had reportedly become more erratic, culminating in this heartbreaking event.

Police are currently investigating all aspects of the case to uncover the circumstances that led to the murder.
