Mohan Majhi to take oath as Odisha's first BJP CM

Bhubaneswar, June 11: Mohan Charan Majhi has been appointed as Odisha's first Chief Minister from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), marking a significant milestone in the state's political landscape. He is scheduled to take the oath of office on June 12th, signifying the beginning of his tenure as the head of the state government.

During a BJP legislature party meeting convened at the party's State headquarters in Bhubaneswar, Mohan Majhi, a prominent tribal leader and four-time MLA from Keonjhar, emerged as the unanimous choice for Odisha's 15th Chief Minister. The meeting, attended by Union Minister Rajnath Singh and senior leader Bhupendra Yadav, saw Defence Minister Rajnath Singh officially announce Majhi's nomination.

In addition to selecting Majhi for the chief ministerial role, the meeting also designated Patnagarh MLA KV Singh Deo and Nimapara MLA Pravati Parida as the deputy chief ministers of the State. This decision marks a significant shift in Odisha's political landscape, positioning Majhi as the first BJP Chief Minister to succeed Naveen Patnaik.
