Bhubaneswar, Oct 23: The Mancheswar Railway Station in Bhubaneswar is set to undergo a significant transformation with a proposed investment of ₹26.85 crore aimed at improving passenger facilities and enhancing the overall travel experience for the increasing number of commuters.
Designated as one of the 57 Amrit Stations by the Ministry of Railways within the East Coast Railway (ECoR) jurisdiction, Mancheswar Station is a vital public-centric project strategically located near the busy Mancheswar Industrial Estate. Currently handling 22 trains, the development plan includes several key amenities: a new station building (G+1) spanning 760 sqm, improved traffic circulation with a beautified area of 4000 sqm featuring unidirectional traffic flow and separate entry/exit gates, and an enhanced front façade of the existing station building (243 sqm).
Additional features will include a 12.0 m wide Foot Over Bridge (FOB), a well-planned parking area accommodating two-wheelers, four-wheelers, and autos (1056 sqm), four lifts for improved accessibility, additional platform shelters totaling 45 bays, a spacious waiting hall of 180 sqm, premium modular toilets for both male and female passengers (80 sqm), upgraded platform surfaces finished with flamed granite and heavy-duty mosaic tiles, and comprehensive signage for enhanced navigation.
Currently, the project has achieved 35% physical progress, reflecting the commitment of Indian Railways to enhance passenger experience and infrastructure at key stations across the country, in response to the growing demands of commuters in Bhubaneswar and surrounding areas.
