Bhubaneswar, April 24: In a tragic and shocking incident, a woman patient lost her life following a suspected lift malfunction at the District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) in Bhadrak on Thursday, sparking widespread tension and protests within the hospital premises.

The deceased has been identified as Minati Parida, a resident of Narasinghapur village under Randia Gram Panchayat in Bhadrak district. She was reportedly brought to the hospital via 108 ambulance service after she suddenly fell ill. After receiving initial treatment, she was being shifted to the medicine ward when the mishap occurred.

According to sources, the lift moved abruptly while Minati was inside, with no staff present nearby to assist or monitor the process. The woman became trapped inside and is believed to have died due to suffocation. The horrifying incident led to panic, outrage, and protests by her family members and local residents.

Upon receiving information, a police team arrived at the scene and brought the situation under control. Authorities have launched a detailed investigation to determine the exact cause of the lift malfunction and identify possible negligence in hospital safety protocols.
