Bhubaneswar, July 10: The Odisha Government has identified more than 1.01 crore women as eligible beneficiaries for the fifth instalment of the Subhadra Yojana, with preparations being intensified to ensure the financial assistance is disbursed smoothly on the occasion of Rakhi Purnima.
Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida on Friday chaired a high-level review meeting at Lok Seva Bhawan to assess the readiness of the departments involved in implementing the flagship women’s welfare scheme. She directed all district administrations to complete the verification and disposal of applications pending for field enquiry by July 25, 2026, and instructed officials to conduct daily reviews to ensure no eligible beneficiary is left out.
According to official data, 1,15,75,633 applications have been received under the scheme so far, including 3,17,966 fresh applications submitted during the 2026-27 financial year. After detailed scrutiny and eligibility assessment, 1,02,04,396 applicants were initially shortlisted for the fifth instalment. However, district-level verification confirmed the death of 5,277 applicants, reducing the final number of eligible beneficiaries to 1,01,99,119.
The meeting also reviewed the progress of crucial pre-disbursement activities, including Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) activation, biometric e-KYC, field verification, NPCI mapping, payment file preparation, and coordination with banks. Parida emphasised the need for seamless coordination among district administrations, technical agencies, financial institutions and concerned departments to ensure timely and error-free transfer of funds.
Officials informed that the Subhadra Yojana has already transferred Rs 20,648.63 crore directly into the bank accounts of more than one crore women through four instalments. They also stated that 2,68,396 grievances received under the scheme have been successfully resolved, reflecting the government’s continued efforts to ensure transparency and efficient service delivery.
