The weather office has advised residents to remain alert and take necessary precautions as unstable weather conditions are expected to prevail over parts of the State.
According to the IMD forecast, Sundargarh, Angul, Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj districts are likely to experience thunderstorms with lightning and strong winds at isolated places on July 9.
The warning will cover a wider area on July 10, extending to Balasore, Bhadrak, Sundargarh, Angul, Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj districts. Similar weather conditions are expected to continue on July 11, with Sundargarh, Angul, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj and Boudh likely to witness thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds.
On July 12 and 13, the weather activity is expected to persist over Sundargarh, Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj, where isolated thunderstorms and strong winds are likely to continue.
The IMD has urged people in the affected districts to remain cautious, especially during the afternoon and evening hours when thunderstorm activity is generally more intense. Farmers, travellers and those engaged in outdoor work have been advised to take adequate precautions, as strong winds may damage standing crops, weak structures and unsecured objects.
The weather department has also warned people against taking shelter under trees during thunderstorms and advised them to move to safe buildings or sheltered places immediately if lightning or strong winds develop. Residents have been asked to follow official weather updates and local advisories to ensure their safety.
