Bhubaneswar, June 30: The Odisha Vigilance has unearthed substantial movable and immovable assets during simultaneous raids on properties linked to Dhanurdhar Biswal, Establishment Officer-cum-Office Superintendent at Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (VIMSAR), Burla, in connection with a disproportionate assets (DA) case.
According to Vigilance officials, searches conducted at multiple locations have so far led to the discovery of two buildings and 20 valuable plots allegedly owned by Biswal and his family members. Among the properties identified is a double-storeyed residential house measuring around 1,650 square feet at Dhankauda in Sambalpur and another building located at Gudesinga.
The Vigilance Technical Wing has begun measuring the buildings and assessing the market value of the immovable properties. Officials said the valuation process will help determine the total worth of the assets allegedly accumulated by the accused.
Apart from the properties, Vigilance teams recovered cash amounting to Rs 19.72 lakh during the searches. They also seized a hyva truck, a Renault Kiger car, two tractors and three two-wheelers from the premises.
Officials are also verifying the accused’s financial holdings, including bank deposits, postal savings, fixed deposits and other investments. The weighment and valuation of gold jewellery recovered during the searches are currently underway.
The raids are part of an ongoing investigation into allegations that Biswal amassed assets disproportionate to his known sources of income. Vigilance officials said the searches are continuing and more assets may be identified as the investigation progresses.
Notably, this is the second major anti-corruption operation carried out by Odisha Vigilance in Sambalpur on the same day. Earlier, the agency had conducted similar searches on properties linked to another VIMSAR employee, Aswini Meher, in a separate disproportionate assets case.
The Vigilance department said a comprehensive assessment of all recovered assets is being undertaken, and further legal action will be initiated based on the outcome of the ongoing investigation.
