Bhubaneswar, Mar 11: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow warning for several districts in Odisha, forecasting thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty surface winds at isolated places in the coming days.
According to the regional weather office, thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds reaching speeds of 30–40 kmph are likely to occur tomorrow in the districts of Mayurbhanj, Sundergarh, Keonjhar, Balasore, and Bhadrak. These districts have been placed under a yellow alert as sudden weather changes may affect normal activities and pose risks to residents.
The IMD has also predicted similar weather conditions on March 13, when thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and winds of 30–40 kmph may again affect Mayurbhanj, Sundergarh, Keonjhar, Balasore, and Bhadrak. Authorities have urged residents in these districts to remain cautious and stay informed about local weather updates.
In addition, isolated thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds are likely in Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Balasore, and Bhadrak on March 16, according to the IMD forecast.
The weather department has advised people to take necessary precautions, avoid outdoor activities during thunderstorms, and secure loose objects that could be blown away by strong winds to prevent accidents or damage.
